Description:
Thallus: thin, creamy-yellow, cracked-areolate
Apothecia: sessile, orange, slightly pruinose
Epihymenium: hyaline, granular
Hymenium: paraphyses branched and anastomosing
Hypothecium: hyaline to pale straw
Exciple: hyaline, composed of richly branching and anastomosing hyphae
Ascus: ?Biatora-type
Spores: hyaline, polarilocular, 19-22 x 8-8.5 m; septum 1-3.5 µm

Chemistry: atranorin, roccellic acid caperatic acid by TLC

Distribution & Ecology: Fuegia & Tasmania: The type collection is from Drimydis winteri on Islas Wollaston (Chile) and there are three collections from Nothofagus from two localities on Isla de los Estados (Argentina) in MSC. There are also several collections from Tasmania.

Notes: Most characters fit well with Cliostomum, but the polarilocular ascospores are anomolous for that genus.
